Applications First Reviewed Thursday July 27th
First Round of Interviews Scheduled for Monday July 31st

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are frontline public health workers (often without specialized medical training) who are trusted members of and/or have an unusually close understanding of the community they will serve. This trusting relationship enables CHWs to serve as a link/intermediary/navigator/care coordinator between systems of care (health/social services) and the community served, in order to increase access to services and to improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery. Most of the CHW’s role is direct one-to-one work with participants, helping them to achieve personal and health goals. CHWs will also build community capacity by increasing health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support and advocacy.
