Duluth Stream Corps is stream restoration and transitional employment program of Community Action Duluth.
Duluth Stream Corps employs Duluthians with employment barriers in transitional, wage-paid jobs, to plant trees and remove invasive plants. Crew members will receive employment and financial coaching (as part of their paid work week), to assist them in reaching the goal of finding and transitioning into permanent employment. Crew members will be expected to meet regularly with their coach.
The Crew Member position, is a 40 hours/week position, grant-funded through September 15, with a strong possibility that work would continue into January 2018, pending funding. Work hours are 7am – 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. The starting wage for this position is $13/hour. Benefits include: PTO, holiday pay and access to an Employee Assistance Program.
As an integral part of our employment programs and green initiatives, the Stream Corps Crew Members have three key responsibilities:
- Physical Labor
Work 8 hour days lifting up to 50 lbs, planting trees, installing protection, cutting vegetation with handsaws and loppers, dragging brush, applying herbicide, carrying supplies to and from projects sites, shoveling, bending, etc.
- Education and Training
Help ensure a safe and productive work environment by completing safety training and maintaining equipment.
- Represent Duluth Stream Corps and Community Action Duluth
Model the core qualities of crew member: Safe, hardworking, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, both in informal and formal public settings.

We're looking for 3 folks who are have experienced long-term unemployment/under-employment or a lack of employment history to join our Seeds of Success crew. Candidates should have an interest in working outdoors in all weather conditions, be able to reliably work a set schedule, be open to constructive criticism and eager to work in a diverse environment. As a part of this program, crew members will receive employment, education and financial coaching as a part of their paid work week to assist them in reaching the goal of finding and transitioning into long-term employment or further education.
The Crew Member position, is a 32 hours/week position, grant-funded through mid- October 2017, with a possibility that work would continue into the winter months, pending funding. Work hours are 8am – 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday. The starting wage for this position is $11/hour. Benefits include: PTO, holiday pay and access to an Employee Assistance Program.
