Welcome Our New Community Construction Crew Members!

Community Construction welcomed four new crew members to the team this week, Derek, Darriana, Donnie, and Canessa.

These eager individuals have already started work on finishing up the 3007 Devonshire property, breaking up the old sidewalk and learning how to pour the new one. Openly taking guidance from our program manager Ron and crew leader Cheyenne, the new crew members have already begun putting their best foot forward into learning construction trade skills.

Over the past few months, the crew installed all new soffit and fascia around the entire house. After that project, they began work on ripping up and replacing the old, damaged shingles with brand new ones.

New windows and doors have been replacing old ones and the crew even built a new back porch area which came along nicely.

This is a wonderful time for our new crew members to be starting out, as they get to see the end goal of all our projects. Our goal is not only to help provide the crew with the resources they need to be successful within and outside of the program, but also to make affordable housing more available within our community.

The crew is set to begin their basic carpentry course at Lake Superior College June 6th, where they will gain knowledge in blueprint reading, OSHA standards, and many other essential areas of basic construction. We at Community Action Duluth are excited to welcome these new members and see what excellent things they will accomplish.
